15 COSY DOG FRIENDLY PUBS IN CHELTENHAM

Despite the fact that Cheltenham is most renowned for its horse races, it should be noted that it is also a pet-friendly vacation spot. There are more dog-friendly pubs in Cheltenham than we could possibly include here, but these are 15 of our favourites.

If even that isn’t enough, you may even take walks throughout Gloucestershire and visit pubs in other Cotswold counties!

THE BEEHIVE 2023

The Beehive is a popular, traditional tavern frequented by locals and is situated in the upscale Montpellier neighbourhood.

Customers can unwind with their canine companions while indulging in some hearty food and refreshing beverages in the pub’s garden and lower floor. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted at the restaurant located upstairs.

SANDFORD PARK ALEHOUSE

Sandford Park Alehouse, in case you hadn’t guessed from the name, is the place to go for premium kegs, and their ale and beer selection is always rotating so you can always find something new to gulp.

Help yourself to a cold one while the helpful staff fusses over your dog and throws in a few free treats. And if you come on a Sunday, we may even give your dog some of the leftovers from the roasts!

THE OUTDOOR INN

The Outdoor Inn is an outdoor tavern in the middle of the high street that manages to capture the spirit of a music festival without leaving the outdoors. Due to the outdoor nature of the event, Fido is welcome to tag along while you indulge in some comforting beverages and hearty fare.

There is no better spot to socialize with friends and your dog when the weather is nice, and if clouds do roll in, there are a few covered tables and pods to retreat to. However, availability is limited, so make your reservations early if the weather forecast calls for sunny skies.

Prestbury’s The Plough is a stunning old pub with a thatched roof. It’s a short drive from Cheltenham, as the name might suggest, or the goal of a dedicated dog walk.

This dog-friendly Cheltenham pub is known for its American soul food, such as dirty fries and sumptuous ribs, and its Americanized versions of English pub classics, made with the finest British ingredients.

Even your dog will be envious of the succulent steaks they offer here. But don’t worry, since there are also jars of treats for Fido to consume.

THE VINE

Although the tiled facade of The Vine makes it look like a classic city boozer, it is nothing like those other two establishments.

Although it has the feel of a cozy pub, the focus here is on the mouthwatering Thai cuisine that is served. You and your dog are welcome to relax here as you enjoy some delicious local fare and friendly conversation with your pals over a game of cards or a board game.

Located at 47 High Street, GL50 1DX.
We are open from 17:00 to 23:00 Sunday through Thursday and 17:00 to 00:00 on Friday and Saturday.

THE ROYAL

The Royal is the place to go if you and your dog want to relax with a drink after a stroll or if you want to watch how well your dog does in the yearly dog show.

The dog will get lots of attention and treats, but they’ll still give you the puppy eye if you order something from the chargrill. The owner clearly loves animals, and your dog just might become a regular if you give them enough meaty goodies and attention.
