The Rope & Anchor is one of our favourite dog-friendly watering holes in all of Dorset, and it’s conveniently located between the two museums.
It’s a simple watering hole with complimentary dog biscuits, delicious home-cooked meals, and a wide variety of excellent beer. The little beer garden is a sun trap and has live music most evenings.

The Crown Hotel
At the discretion of the manager, dogs are permitted in the bar and select guest rooms at The Crown. Due to the high volume of visitors on the weekend, dogs are not allowed.
